Profile: flashquake is a quarterly, web-based journal that specializes in flash literature or stories in the most compact form possible. Their goal is to make flashquake a "top quality, paying venue for literary writers."

Publication Needs: Accepts flash fiction, flash non-fiction (memoirs, essays, creative non-fiction, and humor), and short poetry.

Story Length: Prefers fiction and non-fiction of less than 1,000 words; however, they will receive shorter works favorably.

Rights Purchased: flashquake will seek permission to include submissions in the issue for which it was submitted (including possible CD/Audio releases) and permission to archive.

Payment Terms: Payment ranges from $5.00 - $25.00 plus one contributor's CD copy of the issue within two weeks of publication.

Submission Guidelines: Publication and reading periods are posted with guidelines. Submissions should be sent during posted periods only. flashquake does not accept multiple submissions. (Submissions should be limited to one submission per category, per author, per submission period.) Work should be submitted through e-mail and pasted into the body of the e-mail message. E-mail attachments will not be accepted. Submissions should be formatted and submitted according to posted guidelines. Simultaneous submissions will be accepted.

Response Time: Responds with status of submission within one week of the publication date or sooner. Feedback is provided with accepted or rejected works; however, authors may note their preference for receiving comments. (flashquake notes that some comments may be offensive to authors if they are negative.)
