Proofreading

Proofreading services are available for those with a manuscript in need of a light review for basic errors and are typically obtained after a work has been professionally edited. Proofreading services may also be beneficial for those who have manually entered their editorial changes into a new document (as this can generate typographical errors) or for those who have had their work extensively edited. Often, extensive edits require a proofread in order to determine that marked changes have been properly made.

Proofreading includes a content review for the following:

Typographical errors
Misspelled words
Non-sequential numbering or lettering
Incorrect usage (effect/affect)
Letter or sentence spacing errors
Font face or size inconsistencies

Proofreading will rarely review a manuscript for content organization, sentence structuring, clarity, word choice, or style. If you feel that your manuscript may need a more substantive edit, please choose from the Basic, Moderate, and Extensive services available.

Rates

Proofreading rates range from $.007 - $.008 per word.

Example: 50,000 words x $.007 = $350.00

A secondary proofread scheduled by an author will typically be quoted 50% of the original job fee.
