Custom Manuscript Formatting
Add fully customizable elements to our Standard Select professional layout. Includes up to 50 images/tables; placement for lettered/numbered lists and graphics; two free layout revision sets; and post-format consultations with a designer, if needed. Authors may use their revision sets to fine-tune specific elements of the layout, such as text and image placement, spacing, and general page composition. (There may be some exceptions depending on the overall composition of the work.) This level of formatting works best for manuscripts consisting of complex elements. It is also a good choice for authors who want greater control over the final layout. In addition, we offer a number of Formatting Add-ons to enhance the look or quality of the work, including the option to make post-format editorial or layout revisions. (Request a free sample format.)
Trim Size: 5x8, 5.5x8.5, 6x9, 7x10, or 8.25x11. (Inquire about other sizes.) Main Body Font: Garamond (our default font), Georgia, Century Schoolbook, Perpetua, Book Antiqua, Times New Roman, other. (We choose fonts for their readability and clarity in print.) Main Body Font Size: 11pt, 12pt, 13pt, other. Line spacing: Single, 1.5 line spacing, other. Drop Caps: Drop cap for chapter opening text or no drop cap. (A variety of fonts may be chosen. You may also choose to use an alternative style for opening text.) Running Heads: Alternate book title/author name; book title/chapter title; or no running head. Folios: Page numbers may be placed in running heads or running feet. Images: Include up to 50 images/tables. (You may add additional images.) Display Type: Customize your display type (text for chapter headings) from the font list above. (You may also request a custom font for chapter headings or your title page.) Display Type Layout: Chapter headings may be customized. Subheadings: Standardized layout for your document's multi-level subheadings. (Subheading layout is pre-set, and your subheadings should be clearly defined.) Table of Contents: Standard single-level table of contents; multi-level table of contents; no table; customized table.(Note: All main custom elements must be determined before the project details are finalized to avoid possible post-format charges.) Let our designers do the rest! Page and margin settings, including gutters, to best suit the needs of your individual layout. Front Matter, including proper setup of your title page, half-title page, copyright notice and disclaimer, acknowledgments, dedication, table of contents, preface, foreword, or other introductory pages. Chapter headings will be standardized with a common font, size, and layout—your choice or designer's choice. Page numbers will be automated and set in running heads/feet—your choice. Text will be fully justified; paragraphs will be indented; and line spacing will be set to single unless otherwise specified. All layouts include a FREE printer-ready PDF for publication or print. Our free sample layout allows you to review professional design choices or request revisions to the basic layout before making a final decision or finalizing your project details. Formatting quotes will include total job fee, turnaround, and possible start dates. If you are already working with a publisher or printer, we will work within their specific layout guidelines.
