Setup and eBook Layout for Amazon's Kindle® and ePub format is here!

Why bother with an eBook?

  • Universal Distribution
  • Increased sales at a higher royalty
  • Wider audience (a reader is more likely to purchase a new author as an eBook because the cost commitment is less)
  • Instant delivery to readers
  • Mobile access
  • Optional Copyright (DRM) protection if you are concerned about security
There's more...

The market is finally beginning to show a shift toward eBooks. Amazon has been heavily advertising its latest Kindle device, and sales of the eBook reader are growing. In addition, the number of popular titles available for download on new devices is growing with it—and readers are buying! Currently, Amazon is listing the Kindle as the #1 Bestselling, #1 Most Wished-for and Gifted item on their site. And once readers have the device, they're going to want something to put on it...

How Big is the eReader Opportunity?

Devices are becoming less expensive, they contain more content and features, and retail distribution/exposure is increasing. eBooks are beginning to cut into the market on printed books. According to Forrester (Consumer Product Strategy), the next five years should see an explosion in the eReader textbook market, with a further projection that the market will be driven by businesses going green. They report 2009 eReader sales of 3 million, with 30% occurring during the holiday season. In 2010, they project the launch of devices that don't use E Ink (which may enable them to have color and video); a new generation of tablet PCs, minis, and smartphones; flexible displays; and better touch-screen options.

Increased Competition

Barnes & Noble will be releasing the nook in January 2010. Touted as the world's most advanced eReader (and already sold out through Christmas), it has a color touch screen, a virtual keyboard for searches, WiFi connectivity, and a memory expansion slot. It is also an open platform, meaning that adding apps in the future will be easier for developers. The nook will support the ePub standard eBook format.

The next step for buyers is to fill their devices with books...and that's where YOU come in!
