Submitting a Hardcopy Manuscript Sample

All hardcopy submissions will be converted for electronic editing using Microsoft Word Track Changes or Corel WordPerfect Annotations. Authors will then have the option to choose between receiving a floppy disk or CD of the electronic sample and/or a printout displaying the changes. (Electronic samples must be viewed using Microsoft Word or Corel WordPerfect. If you do not have this software or a computer, you may choose between a color or black&white printout.) We recommend that you choose the Return Format Method that you would like for your final edit.

There is an additional charge for a hardcopy submission, which includes the cost of conversion, electronic storage, and printing.

To submit your manuscript sample as a hardcopy using postal mail:

1. Prepare a sample of the first 15 - 20 pages of your manuscript.
Make sure that your manuscript is typed on plain white paper, double-spaced, and printed on a single side only. Please make sure that the text is clear (no smudges, blurring, or faded print). Pages should be numbered, and your name should be included in the top left or right-hand corner of each page. Please do not staple or attach permanent bindings to your pages. If you are unable to format your manuscript in this manner, please let us know in your preliminary contact.

2. Determine the total word or page count for your manuscript.
Page count is based upon an 8.5 x 11 page, 12pt. font, double-spaced, with one-inch margins. There are approximately 300 words per double-spaced page.

3. Prepare an introductory page containing the following:

Contact Information - This should include your full name, an e-mail address or telephone number where you can be reached, and your return address.

Return Format Method - This should include your preference for receiving an electronic or printout version of your manuscript. If you would like an electronic version, please include your preferred software type (Microsoft Word or Corel WordPerfect). If you would like a printout, please specify color or black&white.* (There will be an additional charge for color printouts.)

Book Information - This should include your book title, manuscript word or page count (see page count standards listed above), and the services you would like to obtain. (View our Services.)

Publishing Information - This should include the name of your current publisher (if applicable), possible publishing deadlines, and referral information. (Please tell us how you heard about us. Some referrals may be eligible for a discount.)

Please be sure to include this information, as we will be unable to complete your sample edit and quote without it.

4. Contact us for our postal address.
Prior to mailing, please contact submit@integrativeink.com or 941-362-0111 with your query. You will then receive a postal address where you may direct your submissions. Unsolicited manuscripts will not be accepted through postal mail.

*Black&white printouts will display all additions with a double underline and all deletions with a strikethrough. Color printouts will display all additions in red and all deletions in red with a strikethrough.

Note: Postal submissions may have a slightly longer turnaround than submissions received through e-mail. Quoted turnaround does not include mail-time.
