Sample Edit Submissions

Authors may request a free custom sample edit and quote. Completing a sample allows us to familiarize ourselves with an author's work, while allowing authors the opportunity to review our editorial style and format prior to making a final decision or purchasing a service. Editing quotes will include total job fee, requested or recommended edit level, turnaround, and possible start dates. (There is no obligation to purchase a service.) Each sample will consist of at least 2 - 5 pages of the work.

To prepare your sample edit, we will request the following:

The first 15 - 20 pages of your manuscript - We accept Microsoft Word, OpenOffice.org, Plain Text, Rich Text, or unsecured Adobe Acrobat PDF files. (We recommend submitting your work as an 8.5x11-sized document with one-inch margins. Text should be double-spaced, in a Times New Roman 12pt. font. Please exclude images from your file unless they are critical to the edit.)

Contact Information - This should include your full name, e-mail address, and a telephone number where you can be reached.

Book Information - This should include your book title, full manuscript word count, and the services you would like to obtain. (View our Services.)

Publishing Information - This should include the name of your current publisher (if applicable), possible publishing or editorial deadlines, and referral information. (Please tell us how you heard about us. Some referrals may be eligible for a discount or special services.)

To simplify this process, we have created a Sample Edit Request Form where you may enter this information and submit a sample of your manuscript. Alternatively, you may contact us by phone, and we will provide you with additional information.

There is no fee for this sample, but in the event that your work does not qualify for this free service, we will notify you as soon as possible. If you receive a message that submissions have been temporarily suspended due to our waiting list for services, we encourage you to check back with us, as these are normally short-term closures.
