Profile: Xlibris, a strategic partner of Random House Ventures, is a print-on-demand publisher offering a variety of service types and options.

Distribution Type: E-books, paperback, and hardcover distribution. They also offer picture book services with full color interior.

Services: Xlibris offers three main levels of service: Basic Service, which allows the author to choose from a number of cover and interior templates; Professional Service, which includes templates, hardback availability, a limited number of interior images and tables, plus copyright registration; and Custom Service, which includes contact with an Xlibris designer regarding cover and interior needs, a limited number of interior images and tables, premium placement on the Xlibris website, and registration with online booksellers. You may also purchase additional options such as the Marketing Pro Kit, marketing services, or basic copyediting services.

Submission Guidelines: Xlibris suggests that as little formatting be done to the manuscript as possible; however, the word processor's built-in functions should always be used for basic formatting. (There may be some limitations on word count, graphics, language-type, or tables and graphs.) Submit work as a Microsoft Word or WordPerfect document on floppy, zip disk, or CD-Rom. You may submit online or via mail, according to their guidelines.

Royalties and Retail: Author receives 10% or 25% of cover price for hardback or paperback sales and 25% or 50% for e-book sales. Retail price is determined by page count and distribution type (a chart may be found online).

Copyright: The author maintains copyright.
