What is integrative ink?
A publishing pre-production company made up of dedicated copyeditors and book designers who will help project your voice into the world. We specialize in copyediting, book design, and assisting new and established authors with the traditional or self-publishing process.

How long have you been around?
This is our sixteenth year!

I’ve finished writing my book. Now what can you do for me?
We offer a variety of services and author resources, including:

I’m thinking about publishing my book. What does that take?

Integrative Ink is accessible throughout the process, always responsive by telephone or email, and although my particular project posed some problems, Integrative Ink knew how to address them, explained my options, and worked with me. With Integrative Ink, there are people at the other end of the phone—people who will listen, explain, and deliver what you want and give you and your project personal attention. I can’t recommend them highly enough, and if ever again I need editors or formatters or any service that they provide, there’s no question but that I’ll return to Integrative Ink. The personal touch coupled with the utmost in quality and professionalism is why.

That depends on whether you plan to publish traditionally or self-publish. Publishing the traditional way remains a difficult and time-consuming process, but we’d be glad to walk you through your options if that’s the route you’d like to take. Alternatively, self-publishing has become very popular because it is fast, inexpensive, and can lead to positive results; however, there’s sometimes a catch.

Print-on-demand technology has made it easy to print a book. But that doesn’t mean the process is easy. Many publishers require that you have an understanding of the publishing process as a whole; for instance, you’re required to supply them with a book cover and interior files that meet printer specifications. They will throw terms at you like bleed and trim and transparencies, font embedding, pdf/x-1a compliant, crop marks, margins, and gutters, etc. (ad nauseam). And what about professional copyediting? Traditionally published books go through at least three separate phases of editing. They have a team of editors and designers working for you, but what if you decide to self-publish your work? Who will act as your team?

That’s where we come in!

Professional presentation and quality content increase your chance of generating sales or drawing the attention of traditional publishers. We specialize in enhancing your vision, providing custom services at reasonable prices—including industry-standard file types, allowing you to easily produce revised editions; interior book and cover design to fit your content rather than pre-formatted templates; and editing packages that suit the specific needs of your work. We work with some of the best-known printers and publishers in the industry while still remaining an independent company (meaning we can be loyal to you and your vision rather than to a board of directors who read little more than financial reports).

We also offer FREE publishing consultations! The process is confusing, and we know first-hand how hard it is to get live people on the phone. We actually like authors, so we’re happy to talk with you about your book and your publishing goals. We’re also pretty straight-forward, so we’ll tell you when something just doesn’t sit right. We can also help you choose the printer or publisher that will best suit your needs; guide you through the pre-production process; and direct you to the best resources for information on copyright protection, retail pricing, distribution, ebook design, and what it takes to get your book in popular retail markets.

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get started!
